A LETTER FROM CARMEN RAY:![]() This Holiday Season I’m especially moved by family members and friends that continue to create and maintain traditions. This being my 60th Christmas is such a reminder that family is sacred. Weather we are blood connected, business or purpose connected. I appreciate you and I encourage you to make this Holiday Season matter. I’m grateful for memories of the Holiday Season with my family. Although we were pretty small, my father, mother and Sister, I can honestly say my Sister was and continues to be the keeper of tradition and rituals. I’m also using this time not to romanticize the holidays. I recall so many filled with arguments with in-laws, overspending, and dysfunction from both of my previous marriages. I recall an over abundance of materialism and a lack of outward expression of love, gratitude and meaningful conversations. This Christmas instead of dwelling on the less than “Merry” experiences, I’m going to reflect on the traditions, love, lessons and gratitude for those I love and those that loved me. Shero is defined as a woman admired or idealized for her courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities; a heroine.

You literally (not figuratively) have to lose your mind in order to follow your heart. Your ‘mind’ will try to block EVERY possible thought you possess that goes against the ‘comfortable brain’ that it’s striving to be. Your ‘comfortable’ thoughts; your relaxed and settled mind wants nothing to do with the ‘different’ or complicated existence that your heart is fighting to sustain. Attaining that newness will disrupt the brain’s “normal” comfort zone. It wants to remain complacent and relaxed without exerting any extra energy, or providing any thought to do anything extra beyond what it’s already doing. |
