By Aisha Isreal, Be Well Publishing Partner Peace in my mind. Peace in my body. Peace in my relationships. I’ve been through a lot in my life, from growing up with a strict, disciplined, comedic, and loving father who was addicted to crack cocaine for 20 years to being married to a charming sex addict for 14 years. The roller coaster of my life pulled into the station almost ten years ago. I learned and decided to take the difficult journey of forgiving my father and my ex- husband, and focus on the planning of the life I wanted to live and knew in my heart that I deserve. So, let me show you what life looks like now, and what lies ahead. I am an author, working on my 2nd , 3rd , and 4th books simultaneously. I’m not sure which one will finish first, but it’s not a race.
I have a podcast that just finished its 7th season, and will expand from once a week to multiple days per week in Season 8. My husband and I are Creative Director and Executive Director, respectively, of ABI Concepts LLC, the parent company for most of our functioning businesses. My husband sees the big picture, and I focus on the details. We fit like hand in glove… Or maybe we go together like a right and a left hand. Either way, we balance each other out. We own an event planning company, Life of the Party Events. We also on a transportation company, a transport service, and a travel company. They sound similar but they are different in major ways. On a typical weekday, I wake up for good, after having awakened a few times during the night, at 6:00 am. Depending on the day, I may hop up right away. I may even wake up before my alarm goes off, and just resolve to rise before the ring. But most mornings, I hit the snooze, set on 5-second intervals, until about 6:10 am. I get up and shower, just like you. I brush my teeth. I wash my face. I do a little something with my hair. I get dressed. And my hubby, my daughter, and I are out the door before 7:00 am. We pray together as a family, in the car, on the way to the shuttle that takes my daughter the rest of the way to her school. I start work at 8:45 am. I work less than 15 minutes away, but my daughter goes to school on the other side of town and has to make it to the shuttle by 6:45 am. Thank God for the shuttle, which allows me to avoid that crosstown, and downtown rush hour traffic, in exchange for time to grab coffee and egg white bites with my husband. On our ride to work, my husband likes to listen to the morning prank, which irks me, especially when the prank is insinuating to a spouse that their spouse is being unfaithful. It seems blasphemous to plant seeds of doubt unjustly; but for now, I digress. I like to listen to the letters asking for relationship advice, which sometimes irritate my husband because he can’t believe people ask such ridiculous questions. We laugh. We cringe. We stay off our phones. We respond to and discuss what we’ve heard. We may relate it to our lives with wisdom and sound judgment. We may not. But, we respect each other’s likes, enjoy each other’s company, and kiss and say “I love you” before we part for the day’s work. He runs the day-to-day operations of the transportation company, and I teach 5- and 6-year-olds how to read, develop algebraic thinking, and communicate effectively using basic social skills. My mother’s home care person may check in with me during the day, to ask me questions or to share a funny or endearing story. God has truly blessed us with a woman who my mother really likes, trusts, and can talk to. And we don’t even have the time to discuss my jam-packed weekends. A co-worker asked me how I do it all. Not discounting my relationship with Jesus Christ, and knowing that in God’s Word it tells me that I can “do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” I don’t think about it. I just do it. And when my body tells me to, I rest. It is “Go” time right now, though. My partnership with BeWell Magazine is helping me to propel into completion with a lot of projects I’ve started. It is also positioning other entrepreneurs to level up with me. I get excited about sharing my testimony and inspiring others for greatness in life, love, and entrepreneurship. What are your dreams?
