By Aris Dionne Townsend, Be Well Platinum Member Insanity, repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results. The pandemic revealed there’s always another way to achieve a goal, pivot and adjust. Entrepreneurship increased significantly as people redefined the requirements for success, leaving old patterns no longer up for discussion. In May 2022, I gained a new level of importance for my time, space, and comfort. I took the leap of faith as a full-time entrepreneur while underestimating the intensity of operating a business, raising two toddlers, maintaining a healthy relationship, gaining new clients, accomplishing goals, and feeling empowered simultaneously. As I reflected on the pros and cons of my first year in business, one thing that remained the same was the value of my peace. I had to be clear on my capacity, identify growth opportunities, and visualize steps forward.
Allow me to introduce myself, offer a glimpse of my capacity, and share the systems I put in place that contributes to my well being, respects my boundaries, improves my productivity, and creates available space to simply be! Can You Relate? Here’s 3 Productive Tips: Get Organized! Write down each focus and leave space underneath for a Brain Dump. This helps declutter your mind, categorize your thoughts, and prioritize by due dates. Save notes to review your ideas, thoughts, and questions for each focal point. Calendar Yourself! If you need time, make it by scheduling your needs or desires first. This helps to respect your boundaries when discussing availability. It’s ok to be flexible, it’s not ok to ignore yourself by doing so. Set Graceful Goals! We all want to offer quick turnarounds and think this will pay us back in time. It often takes more time as pressure increases your anxiety, resulting in mistakes and increasing frustration as things begin to pile up again. If you promise to deliver in 5 days, add 2 more and make it 7 days. Normalize allowing grace for the unexpected or a day to regroup. If you finish early, spend time on personal goals or go enjoy yourself, either way it’s for you.
